Stroll and Chat sessions bring Keighley’s Cat Steps Back to Life
20 May 2026
The Cat Steps project in Keighley is connecting residents, historians and schoolchildren through shared stories, and there’s still time to get involved.
Throughout April and May, we have been supporting Stroll and Chat sessions bringing local residents together to explore their green spaces, share memories, and reconnect with the places where they grew up and played.
The walks, which form part of the Cat Steps project, have already proven to be far more than a gentle stroll. Members of Keighley and District Local History Society and Keighley Civic Society joined the sessions, sharing detailed research into local battle sites and the history of the area’s mills bringing the landscape to life.
The stories gathered during the Stroll and Chat sessions will now shape something new. They will be used to inspire workshops with local primary schools in June, where children will design their own walking trail through the area helping them engage in the history of the place they call home.
