Siblings win Go Kart for best outdoor play video!

With a focus on promoting positive experiences of playing outdoors whatever the weather, we asked families to share their videos for a chance to win an amazing go-kart.

After receiving many amazing entries, we are delighted to announce that brother and sister, Ali aged 12 and Aleeza aged 9, are our winners! It was a difficult decision, but their video really captured the essence of bringing back outdoor play, as they highlighted some fun snow experiences alongside sharing the importance of playing outdoors in different weather and seasons.

Ali said: “I love the go-kart. When I peddle it goes really fast and it’s so fun!” and Aleeza agreed “I like it when Ali pushes me because it makes it go and I like taking it in turns”.

To celebrate their win, we invited dad Hassan, mum Shamila and the children to Ladyhill Park, a popular community focussed park.

Ladyhill Park has previously been the chosen venue for regular community programmes including Dr Bike, Annual Play days and most recently the Active Creative Experience (ACE), which was a programme run by local stakeholders to involve Allergrange Primary schools in active literacy. Ladyhill park is a great outdoor space with a fun adventure playground, skate-ark, outdoor gym equipment and free-running (parkour) equipment. A Play Pod has also been funded by partners to hold resources for local community groups to encourage play.

Shamila said: “We are all so pleased to have won the competition and the children are over the moon to win such a great prize. They love playing outdoors and I know they are going to have so much fun playing on the go-kart. Experiencing the benefits of outdoor play is important and knowing the children have something new to experience, enjoy and encourage them is fantastic”.
