JU:MP Programme Update – November 2025
25 November 2025
We’re excited to share the latest developments across the JU:MP programme as we continue working to make physical activity a part of daily life for children and families across Bradford.
Partnerships
Our partnership network continues to expand. We’ve formalised our agreement with British Triathlon and welcomed Rachel Pilling as the Swim Bike Run Connector. Strong collaborations with Bradford City Football Community Foundation, Street Games, and Living Well are creating an increasingly connected system of support for families. This November, we took part in an exciting festival with The Leap, focusing on SEND inclusion.
JU:MP People
Our JU:MP People workstream is growing through exciting new partnerships. We’re working with Street Games to develop the new JU:MP Leads programme, with a special focus on creating youth leadership opportunities for girls. This connects closely with our Leaders Like Us project, ensuring young people have clear pathways to become leaders in their communities. We’ve also secured a license from British Triathlon to deliver Swim Bike Run Activator training, adding to our existing children and family physical activity programmes and helping more organisations across Bradford deliver quality activities.
JU:MP Spaces
While progress in JU:MP Spaces has been affected by funding constraints, we’re still making positive strides in our communities. In Holme Wood, we’ve partnered with local organisations and Bradford 2025 to create a vibrant playful mural, install basketball hoops, and transform the parade of shops into a welcoming, family-friendly space where children and families want to spend time.
JU:MP Accessibility
Following our partnership with Summat Creative, the JU:MP Accessibility workstream is making meaningful progress in understanding and meeting the needs of children and families with disabilities. We’re identifying best practices and building local capacity to deliver truly inclusive activities across Bradford.
JU:MP Neighbourhoods
Our neighbourhood work continues to go from strength to strength, with both Holme Wood and Keighley achieving important milestones through strong community engagement and local partnerships. Looking ahead, we’re preparing to launch in Bradford Moor neighbourhood in 2026.
Keighley
Keighley has experienced an incredibly vibrant summer filled with opportunities for children and families to get active. Our JU:MP Action Group partners have worked together to co-design a local action plan, and the results speak for themselves in the enthusiasm and participation we’ve seen across Keighley West and Central. Highlights include the JU:MP fun days alongside Play in the Park sessions and the 75th anniversary celebration of Cliff Castle in partnership with Keighley Ward Office and Keighley Town Council, which attracted over 5,000 people. Families who signed up to JU:MP at these events continue to receive information about opportunities to get active.
Local organisation ‘Get Out More’ is now delivering the Connector programme, supporting key priorities including:
- Active Travel initiatives to encourage safe and accessible movement for children and families, working with the Active Travel social prescribing team and British Cycling.
- Water play and outdoor activities, enhancing and activating local green and blue spaces for fun and accessible activity, building confidence and resilience.
- Raising awareness of facilities within schools and community settings for children and families to get active over the weekends and in the evenings.
- Nature-based outdoor play initiatives delivered directly in greenspaces and parks to build confidence and empowerment.
- Partnership with Manningham Housing to engage tenants and residents in Keighley Central and West.
- Play Street initiatives working with the Council and local partners to create doorstep play opportunities in the heart of communities.
- Working with five local faith settings through our partnership with Faith in the Communities.
- The Keighley Youth Design Group plays an important advisory role in guiding the delivery of our action plans.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue delivering Active Travel initiatives, activating more green spaces, and rolling out neighbourhood-funded projects. The past few months have shown the power of collaboration, and we’re excited to build on this momentum.
Holme Wood
The JU:MP Action Group in Holme Wood continues to bring together local organisations committed to delivering the co-created JU:MP Action Plan. Recent JU:MP Action Plan Fund applications are supporting exciting developments:
- Tong FC – led by two local parents to provide accessible, less formal football provision for the community, with winter delivery at St Columba’s Primary
- TFD Sports Hall improvements – increasing opportunities for the community to be active
- Outdoor table tennis – a concrete table tennis table at the Sutton Centre
The Holme Wood Youth Design Group is now well established and actively contributing to the JU:MP Action Plan. They recently met to design Play Street Kits for the community.
