Come and explore the new Cat Steps Story Trail in Keighley!
01 July 2026
A brand new story trail is opening in Keighley this summer, and it was designed by local children!
In the Braithwaite and Guard House area of Keighley, there’s a woodland path that’s had a bit of a magical makeover. It’s called the Cat Steps Story Trail, and it’s now ready for families to explore. It was a path that families told us felt a unsafe and not somewhere many people wanted to walk. So, working together with Keighley Town Council and some brilliant local partners which included Word Up North, Photo Hub North, Bradford Council, In-Communities and Nicolour Illustration, we helped by clearing the paths, tidying up the greenery, and making it a safer, friendlier place to walk.
24 children from Merlin Top Primary Academy and Our Lady Victories Catholic Primary School spent time exploring the woodland, taking photos, creating characters and stories. Their work and ideas now bring the trail to life.
Join us for the launch on Tuesday 15th July. Come along and be one of the first to walk the trail, meet some of the young designers behind it, and celebrate with the local community. It’s a great free activity for the whole family during the summer holidays. The trail will also be part of the Keighley Walking Festival in September, so there’ll be more chances to visit throughout the year. Click here for more details.
